The Scouts are the reason why BLT exists and the focus of the Troop.
BLT provides the scouts the opportunity to take charge and ownership of something they can call theirs.
We have found that the BLT challenges the scouts to think, learn and evolve their leadership, communication, ethical decision making and team work skills by learning and practicing core scouting skills.
We have found that once the scouts gain a taste and have the experience of leading and mentoring, they enjoy and look forward to continuing the opportunity to practice their leadership and mentoring. This is an important consideration. Once the program is in the hands of the scouts, they want to keep it that way.
The interesting feedback from the schools is that our scouts are typically the leaders or role models in their school activities. From sports teams to band to engineering competitions to social functions, the leadership qualities stand out and place them ahead of their peers.
